Virginians for Marriage Equality

Please join us for an evening with Phil Hirschkop

The midterm elections are only six weeks away, and we have an incredible opportunity to enshrine marriage equality into law here in Virginia. To get this done, we need your help to educate and mobilize voters. Please join Virginians for Marriage Equality for an event on October 12th in Arlington with Philip Hirschkop, who argued the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case Loving v. Virginia, the case that struck down Virginia’s ban on interracial marriage almost 60 years ago. Please join us to hear his account of the historic case that fundamentally redefined American family law by establishing marriage as a civil right, setting the stage for same-sex marriage equality nearly 50 years later.

As early voting has already started on Question 2, a constitutional amendment to enshrine the freedom to marry in Virginia’s constitution, we are pleased to have Mr. Hirschkop with us to highlight the importance of marriage equality, especially in this political climate when the federal courts are unpredictable.

This constitutional amendment will change the language in Virginia’s constitution to affirmatively protect the rights of all couples to marry.

We look forward to having you join us as we work together to secure this historic victory.
