We have a unique opportunity to elect a community leader who is driven by the values of justice, equality, and compassion.
The New Vision Agenda:
Let’s fix traffic by forming a traffic mitigation taskforce of qualified local folks to find solutions to our traffic woes and enhance traffic safety to protect children and families from reckless drivers.
Let’s protect the environment from disorderly development, ensuring that we preserve our east end character and protect natural habitats and our water from mass-excavation and pollution.
Let’s ensure water quality by embarking on nitrogen reduction and carbon capture initiatives in our bays and waterways and create a more resilient septic improvement partnership with the County.
Let’s uphold the Shinnecock Nation’s sovereign rights by appointing Shinnecock members to the Planning and Zoning boards, as well as hold Town events honoring our region’s Indigenous history.
Let’s find affordable housing solutions by partnering with the County and groups like Habitat for Humanity to widen access to 72-h parcels, and create a “homestead program” that will use our CHF to repurpose zombie buildings and foreclosed properties for veterans, teachers, first responders and families in need.
Let’s enhance hamlet representation by looking at the feasibility of creating council districts in Southampton that will harness greater accountability and responsiveness for tax-paying residents who want more from those they elect.
Let’s work together to create ways to better connect residents to disability services that aid families and individuals with special needs so that the promise of the American Dream can be in reach.
