Melinda is a life-long resident of Chelsea Massachusetts, a fierce community activist with experience in organizing on issues such as Environmental and Climate Justice, Youth Empowerment, Leadership Development, Immigration and Housing advocacy. She is the proud are mother of Armani and Akyllis Maldonado-Vega.


She identifies herself as a strong women of color and a fighter for what's right for people regardless of their race income, culture, sexuality, religious beliefs, etc.


In her grassroots organizing experience she has focused on empowering the voiceless and ensuring that they are part of the decision making processes that impact their lives. To ultimately improve their quality of life as it is their right.


Having that said she knows what community residents value in politicians and people in decision making spaces; like integrity, equity and respect.


As a City Council she commits to be accountable and represent her constituents, listen to their needs, and be an advocate for the change Chelsea needs.


Melinda's vision for change is to work with her community to build unity, positive change, and a stronger Chelsea for the now and the future.
