Tarl Knight for the City of Green Bay

I'm Tarl Knight, and I'm proudly running for City Council to serve you and Green Bay District 9.

I'm a proud working-class, middle-income business owner and community organizer. Over the last five years, I've lived, worked, or run a business downtown. I'm not connected to wealthy developers or investors. As a local business owner, I know what matters to our local, independent businesses. I know the struggles and priorities of our working-class families, and I know what it's like for houselessness to be a single paycheck away. I'm running for people of all incomes across District 9 because it's important we all have a seat at the table and the same opportunity.

Through my business, The Tarlton Theatre, I've worked with local nonprofit organizations to support important causes throughout our community. Despite my business being affected by the pandemic, I'm proud we've always paid our staff a living wage and we've always worked to bring a wide variety of affordable programming to the working-class families of District 9. Our doors will always be open to all members of our community.

As the director of Green Bay's new Shipyard District, I've worked with business and property owners to revitalize the South Broadway business area on the west side. We've worked to grow and develop our downtown area while preserving the industrial, manufacturing history and blue-collar spirit of our community. I proudly stand with the working-class businesses and workers of District 9 to create a cleaner and safer downtown together.
