Carol Abney for TN House 38

Carol Abney is running for TN House District 38, which includes Clay, Fentress, Macon, Pickett and Scott Counties.

Abney is a Certified Public Accountant who owns her own CPA firm in Celina, TN. She is a lifelong resident of Pea Ridge in Clay County. Abney received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Tennessee Tech University. She also helps her husband run Randell’s Garage, which he has owned and operated for 30 years locally. Abney is very active in her community, serving on the Clay County Museum Board, as Chair of Clay County Workforce Development, Vice President of the Upper Cumberland TSCPA, and Chair of the Clay County Democratic Party.

Abney's platform is expanding Medicaid and saving TN hospitals, legalizing medical marijuana and providing affordable health care access for everyone. Abney is passionate about growing the economy and increasing good paying jobs through agriculture, growing a remote workforce with technology, and expanding learning opportunities in rural areas. She also advocates providing more support for public schools and teachers- public schools should be fully funded and we need civics courses!

“I am running because someone has to fight for rural Tennesseans. We have lost 13 hospitals- 2 in my district! A 3rd is also in danger of closing. There are over $600 MILLION dollars in Tennessee’s budget surplus. At what point have we suffered enough in rural TN before our tax dollars get sent back to us? People in #RuralTN are dying. Nobody is coming to save us- we have to save ourselves.”

Her Primary Election Day is August 6, 2020
