2016 Kennedys King Awards Program

As you consider your subscription to the 28th event that is themed: We Are Family, know that your local Democratic Party is only successful with your support and encouragement. Join friends for an evening of light fare, drink, music, brief remarks from the entire slate of local Democratic candidates and celebration of some of DC’s accomplished Democrats, including national Democrats that will be awarded for their political and civic accomplishments.

The District of Columbia Presidential Primary election is June 14, but your local Democratic Party is busy preparing for the results of the contest and our delegation’s participation in the 2016 Democratic National Convention in July. Three ( 3) presidential candidates met the filing deadline: Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and "Rocky" Roque De La Fuente; their names will appear on the June 14 Primary ballot.

On May 21, prospective delegate-candidates will compete to represent the presidential candidate of their choice at the Washington Convention Center during the Pre-Primary Delegate Selection Caucus. Each delegate-candidate will be ranked according to the number of votes received from the thousands of DC Democrats that turnout and vote. (Results from the June 14th Primary will determine how many of the delegate-candidates each presidential contender wins.)

Finally, DC’s delegation preparation culminates in the daily breakfast meetings and Statehood promotional activities occurring during the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, PA in July 2016.
