Dear Fellow Democrats,
Our goal is to open our Democratic Headquarters in Southwest Riverside County before the primary election this year.
This year the battle to put Democrats back in office at all levels will take a major effort on our part locally. In the portion of Riverside County that includes Democrats of Southwest Riverside County, there are several MAJOR races. We need to make sure the views of Democrats are represented in our area by electing Democrats to office.
First, even though it is non-partisan, is the Supervisor of the 3rd District. Chuck Washington, former Temecula City Council member, was appointed by Governor Brown to fill the spot vacated by Jeff Stone. This position is being challenged by at least one Republican. If a Republican wins, the entire Riverside County Board of Supervisors will be Republican. We can't let this happen.
Second, Tim Sheridan is challenging 20+ year incumbent Ken Calvert for the 42nd Congressional District. The 42nd covers from Temecula Wine Country/DeLuz (all except within the Temecula city limits), Murrieta, Wildomar, Lake Elsinore, Corona/Norco, Sun City/Menifee, Winchester, Aguanga, Homeland, and parts of Hemet and Riverside. Calvert is a do nothing representative, whose financial war chest is filled with funds from special interests all over the country, and his voting record reflects the special interest influence. Electing Tim would put a representative in office who puts people first!
There are candidates for other races, including Temecula City Council, positions on school boards, community college boards, etc., who normally can't afford to open an office of their own. Even though they are non-partisan, we have an opportunity to support candidates who are Democrats, and would bring Democratic values to the positions.
The Headquarters offers a place for like-minded people to meet, candidates to meet constituents and distribute literature, hold phone banks, prepare canvassing materials for volunteers, and organize voter registration drives.
We are asking you to sign up for continuing monthly contributions , or a one time contribution through Act Blue to help us achieve this goal! $5 a month, or more, would fund this very important political target.
