Say 'no' to another Ferguson in 2015

The last Justice Fund deadline of the year is here. I’m excited to see where we stand after this final push, and I know a lot of other people are watching as well to see what we can do.

We’re going to face a lot of naysayers in the next Congress. People like Fraternal Order of Police Executive Director Jim Pasco, who thinks our push for de-militarizing police is merely “political opportunism.”

But we also have so many allies on these issues. The response from the American people, the media and many of my colleagues across the aisle has been overwhelmingly positive. We can win, but we have to cut through the political clutter and keep ourselves and our allies focused on two core issues: 1) Tanks and other military-grade equipment do not belong on our streets. 2) Our grand jury system is broken and must be reformed.
