Goal Thermometer

In the early part of this year, I received a number of calls and personal requests from many area residents, political leaders and members of various committees in Manassas City urging me to seek a seat on the Manassas City Council. After careful consideration and family discussions, I decided to accept this challenge, and now I am asking for your help.

I love Manassas and its citizens. I have been consistently involved in the community as a volunteer for more than 20 years and became an elected member of the Manassas City School Board 6 years ago. On June 6th I became a Democratic Candidate for Manassas City Council, which has both energized and humbled me. My campaign for City Council must include many efforts toward a positive election result, including mailings, signs and literature detailing my accomplishments and my platform to make Manassas City the best we can make it. Please support this effort.

Please encourage your friends and neighbors to get out and vote for positive change on the Manassas City Council. I want to represent all of Manassas and will need the support of everyone in order to make that happen. I will continue knocking on doors, so I hope to see you before Election Day, November 8th. For now, please accept this letter as my request for your financial support and your vote. Of course, there are many things you can do to help my campaign and any assistance is very much appreciated.

As a School Board Member, I helped to guide the needed improvement in Manassas schools. We created policies and standards for education at a new level. These allow our students to graduate able to pursue college and/or careers and be successful. I was a good steward of the taxpayers’ dollars and ensured that we maximized every cent by working with the Superintendent to create a zero balance budget process. We established rational priorities, worked hard, and discovered innovations to minimize cost increases, while still making the schools priority number one. As a result of our actions, Osbourn High School, 4 years ago in danger of take over from the state, is now in the top 16% of highest performing high schools in the state of Virginia and recognized for academic excellence by US News and World Report as a Silver Award recipient.

I am willing to do all the hard work this position demands, but I need your support to get elected. Please help me represent the great community that I know Manassas City is!
