Tilly Blanding, Democrat of Springfield Virginia, has spent her entire professional life advocating and standing up for people who do not have a voice. She has been involved in politics since she was 13, when she participated in sit-ins in at local businesses in her hometown of Orangeburg, South Carolina as part of the civil rights movement. She has marched with the likes of Dr. Martin Luther King and Rev. Jesse Jackson.
Her determination to speak up for her fellow neighbor inspired her to travel to Richmond to fight for Virginians’ healthcare for the past three years with her union. Tilly is running for office so that she can continue to commit herself to social justice for every individual by representing all Virginians in the legislature.
Tilly is running to lift up all Virginians by saving and expanding healthcare, protecting the rights of women, increasing the minimum wage and protecting worker’s rights.
