State governments headed by Democrat Governors are needed to save our US democracy. Right now in 2022, 234 years after the ratification of the US constitution, the United States is on a dangerous path towards autocracy. A significant force, pushing us away from democracy and towards autocracy, is the “out in the open” “cheating in elections”, initiated by current Republican State Governors and lawmakers.
Since the 2020 election when Trump lost and Biden won, many Republican states and swing states have “gone crazy”, trying to “cheat” in future elections by changing state laws and long standing state policies related to voting rights and elections. “Cheating in elections” means finding ways to “evade”, “manipulate”, and “exploit loop holes in” the laws, rules, and long standing policies and customs, in which free and fair elections have been managed for over 200 years in our country. The reason for cheating is simple. As America and American culture matures, the majority of voters in many swing states and in the country overall is shifting in favor of Democratic policies and the Democratic Party. Many Republican leaders have now come to realize, that the only way they can maintain power is to win elections by “cheating in elections”.
But there is a problem. If you “cheat in elections”, win, and thus take over positions of power, then you no longer have a democracy. With no democracy, U.S. citizen majorities will no longer be able to use voter activism and getting out the vote in a free and fair election, to check corruption, stop policy they don’t want, or install policy they do want. If we lose our democracy, the US will become just another corrupt non-democratic country, with government policy controlled by the government officials elected during, unfair and rigged (sham) elections. Naturally and unfortunately, corrupt government officials will be guided in their government policy decisions by what improves their lives and their success in future elections, and not guided by what improves our lives. Additionally, all reviews of history indicate that a robust democracy always produces citizens that are happier, better off economically, and have more freedoms, than citizens of an autocracy or a dictatorship, where freedoms are restricted and censorship is enforced. Also, in all cases, the economies of democracies significantly outperform the economies of autocracies or dictatorships (makes sense right?)
The list below (same names as on the donation form/list to right) shows 10 close/critical 2022 State Governor races, that deserve our attention and adequate funding. It is critical that the Democrats win every State Governor Office possible, in order to protect our US democracy. The numbers in the list below (to the right of each Democratic candidates name) indicate the Real Clear Politics calculated point spread (candidate vs opponent) for each race as of 10/31/22.
