Salt Lake County Democratic Party (UT)

Garden Party 2015

The Salt Lake County Democratic Party’s 3rd annual Summer Garden Party event: “An Evening Under the Grapevines” is coming up on July 19th from 5-8PM.

Enjoy an elegant evening with your favorite Democrats; see if you can win the Bocce championship bragging rights from Sim Gill; create some lasting memories in our Photo Booth, all while enjoying live music; a delicious cheese and appetizer buffet; wine, beer and sparkling waters; and a silent auction. Individual tickets are $40 and table of eight is $300. We also have additional event sponsorships available and we are looking for silent auction items; contact La Vonne Maloney ( lavonne@slcountydems.com or 801-571-6446) for more information. This will be held at 1021 E. Southfork Drive in Draper, just one mile off I15 and a TRAX shuttle will be available – let us know which train you will be on.

The new Salt Lake County Executive Committee has decisive plans to bring about wins in 2016, 2018, 2020 and beyond. 2014 was a difficult year for Democrats throughout the country. Here in Salt Lake County, we lost a house seat by 47 votes; another house seat by 53 votes and a senate seat by 195 votes. One or two additional votes per precinct would have won those races. Doug Owens lost to Mia Love by 7511 votes, BUT fifteen thousand registered Democrats in that District did not vote!   Fifty thousand Democrats have recently moved to Utah and have not yet bothered to register here. We don’t have a Get Out the Vote concern; we have a “My Vote Doesn’t Matter” concern.

Money raised at this event will go directly to reach out to 100,000 Democrats with the message that “Your Vote Counts’. Help our potential voters realize that they have a voice that matters; help them to understand that we live in a blue county in the middle of Red Utah and they can make a difference. We will then win back these seats; solidify our current positions and win additional races.  We hope to see you on July 19th.
