One hundred years ago our nation was facing a number of stark choices. Should women be given the right to vote? How do we stop rampant public corruption? Should we prohibit alcohol use? What can we do about rising income inequality?
Despite some improvements over the last 100 years, we find ourselves facing many of the same problems once again. Women's rights and healthcare are under attack; the White House is perhaps the most corrupt administration in history; the war on drugs has had a disproportionate impact on communities of color; and wealth concentration has reached levels not seen since the Guilded Age.
The choices we face in this election are clear.
Do we go backwards to an era of corruption and grave injustice? Or do we want to look forward toward progress and equality?
