Mike Heaton is a rural democrat and small business owner running in House District 87. He was born and raised in Mount Pleasant and now raises his two children there.
Through his professional life in Iowa, Mike has become vividly aware of the slowing economic development in Iowa. He wants to work in the state legislature to find creative solutions to revitalize our communities.
“We need more voices in the State House that speak to what is happening in rural Iowa. If we want our young adults to stay in our communities, we should build bridges instead of walls. We are tired of the attacks against public school teachers, health care professionals and everyday workers. When you work a job, you should be able to make a living and be treated with respect.”
Mike is excited to roll his sleeves up, and get back to work for Iowans.
