Support Black Candidates


In honor of Black History Month, we are encouraging you to support RFS’ Black candidates by donating directly to their campaigns. 

 

Run for Something has always been committed to supporting candidates from underrepresented communities running for state and local office. However, we know that POC face additional hurdles when running for office: one of those big obstacles is fundraising. 

 

If we want to see change, we have to empower and support those that can create a lasting impact on their communities and build a legacy that will open the door for millions of other Black candidates to run and win.

 

Your donation will be split evenly between some inspiring candidates we're working with in 2023. Every dollar makes a big difference.

Contribution rules

  1. I am a U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident (i.e., green card holder).
  2. This contribution is made from my own funds, and funds are not being provided to me by another person or entity for the purpose of making this contribution.
  3. I am at least eighteen years old.
  4. I understand that by ordinance of the City of Chicago, no lobbyist registered with the Board of Ethics, or person who has done business with City within the preceding four reporting years, or person who is seeking to do business with the City, shall contribute over $1,500 during a calendar year. This includes persons doing or seeking to do business with the: City of Chicago, Chicago Transit Authority, Board of Education, Chicago Park District, Chicago City Colleges, Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, Chicago Housing Authority, or Public Building Commission.
  5. I am making this contribution with my own personal credit card and not with a corporate or business credit card or a card issued to another person.
  6. A legislator or state constitutional officer who is a candidate for a county, city, or town office, the candidate's principal campaign committee, and any other political committee with the candidate's name or title may not solicit or accept a contribution from a political fund or registered lobbyist during a regular session of the legislature.
  7. Virginia: This contribution is made from my own funds or the funds of an authorizing corporation or other entity, and the funds are not being provided by any other person or entity.
