May 5th is the National Day of Mourning but Seeding Sovereignty is on the frontlines everyday to end the violent epidemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples.
Your donation will directly support Native Alaskan communities, here's a quick look at the big picture:
Right now we are fighting to protect Alaskan Natives following EPA’s March 13, 2023 approval of the fossil fuel extraction Willow Project.
The Nuiqsut community, a traditional Iñupiat village of 500 Indigenous people is less than 500 feet from the planned pipeline. Another Indigenous community is less than 30 miles away.
Not only are traditional ways of Indigenous life and culture under attack, the safety of the families is being threatened by man camps that coincide with pipeline projects.
There are more than 2,500 people reported missing from tribal lands. Of those, there are already 74 reported missing Alaskan Natives. While we cannot undo the violence and loss of life too many have suffered, our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples program is doing everything we can to prevent more violence and protect Arctic lands, waters and communities.
This May during Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Awareness Month we are urgently raising critical funds to fight this fossil fuel project, protect the local Indigenous communities with security and digital defense trainings, and raise funds to sustain the ongoing fight to end the MMIP epidemic.
