Meet Councilman Elias Diaz
Elias Diaz, a native of Eagle Pass, Texas, is a dedicated mental health clinician with over a decade of clinical experience. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. Deeply committed to improving mental health and social services, Elias serves as a Compliance Officer with the Maverick County Hospital District, focusing on advancing mental health and social service systems in his community.
As the co-founder of EP SAFE, the first LGBTQIA+ non-profit organization in the Southwest Texas Border Region, Elias works to support rural LGBTQIA+ communities.
Elias made history as the first LGBTQIA+ elected official in Eagle Pass. In his first term, he secured free mental health therapy for all, increased pay and mental health support for first responders, created the first domestic violence investigator team in the city police department, and launched public health campaigns to bridge the gap in local health resources. He has also organized baby formula drives to support new parents and championed the development of a four-year university. Committed to creating a safe and inclusive community, Elias also leads a 24/7 crisis service for LGBTQIA+ individuals in the area.
Overall he has brought in $7.8 million in grants and donations during his first term for public services, at not cost to city tax payers.
Councilman Diaz does the REAL WORK. Let's vote to keep him in office for four more years.
