In 2025, we'll be celebrating the the spirit of hope, change and the promise of what's possible when we work together! That’s why we’re thrilled to present this year’s Allen G. Kukovich Spirit of Hope and Change Award to Congresswoman Summer Lee—a barrier-breaking trailblazer and relentless advocate for working families. We're also proud to honor Harriet Ellenberger with the Pioneering Woman of Westmoreland Award for her lifetime of steadfast and pioneering leadership. 2025 Outstanding Labor Leader to be announced.
The 2025 Obama-Kukovich Spirit of Hope and Change Dinner is a celebration of undeniably courageous leadership and an opportunity to honor the legacy and work of our friend and former State Senator, the Honorable Allen Kukovich. Senator Kukovich has been a Party stalwart, unifier, reformer and champion our unions and our most vulnerable populations. His instrumental work in enacting the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) has provided millions of children with free or low cost health insurance. His work is now under attack but his decades of courageous leadership have given Westmoreland County a history to be very proud of and a future to look forward to.
Additionally, in 2025, our courts—and the values they’re meant to protect—are on the line. This year’s dinner will highlight our shared commitment to safeguarding justice and underscore the urgent need to retain fair, qualified judges.
