Mario Haggarty

Mario D. Haggerty is a Democratic Candidate running to represent Virginia’s 67th District. A dedicated public servant, Mario spent over two decades in the United States Navy, enlisting in 1996, earning his commission in 2005, and serving as a naval officer until his retirement in 2019. Following his military career, he continued his commitment to national security by managing critical defense projects as a contractor at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division and the Missile Defense Agency. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Human Relations.

Beyond his professional career, Mario has been an active leader in his community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Colonial Beach Performing Arts Association, Beach Arts Music and Mentorship, and as President of the Potomac Renaissance Homeowner’s Association. He is also a current board member of the Placid Bay Estates Civic Association. His experience in managing projects, allocating funds, and ensuring accountability has prepared him to be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars.

As a father of a senior at Westmoreland High School, Mario understands the challenges working families face. His vision as a representative is clear: direct accessibility, transparency, and real solutions for the people of District 67. He is committed to listening to constituents, addressing their concerns, and ensuring government accountability.
