Across the country, corporations are proposing hundreds of new data centers to power the AI boom. While the profits go to some of the world’s largest companies, the costs often stay local. Massive water consumption. Increased pollution when utilities turn to fossil fuels to meet growing energy needs. And in many places, rising utility bills for families who never asked for any of it.
But communities are fighting back. And climate champions are passing legislation to halt construction of new data centers and hold these corporations accountable for their emissions.
