LIFE Camps, Inc.

11 Days 12 Shootings

In the past 11 days, we’ve had 12 shootings and 7 deaths in Southeast Queens (up from 7 shootings in 7 days). We haven’t seen this level of violence here since LIFE Camp opened our doors in 2001, and the numbers are still rising!

We’re working with the community, canvassing the affected neighborhoods, de-escalating tensions and providing mediations and interventions to stop more violence and retaliations. School begins next week and we need to get ahead of this.

We’re working with mothers who’ve lost their children, offering therapeutic and healing services. We’re deep in funeral and security preparation.

Gun violence in our communities is cyclical -- one shooting can lead to an act of retaliatory violence. The coming days are a critical moment to save lives and break the cycle of gun violence.

More than ever, we need your help to successfully fund this effort.

Your Dollars Will Support:

1. Interruption: Hiring 20 credible community messengers for the next 3 months

2. Uniforms + Supplies: Equipping our violence intervention street teams.

3. Neighborhood Communication Campaign: Galvanizing people to be all in for peace.

4. Therapeutic Services: Extending hours for our PeaceMobile, our mobile crisis unit.

5. Safety: Creating safe corridors for our kids to get to and from school safely.
