The Esperanza Fund was established as a collaborative effort between state government, community-based organizations and philanthropic organizations to provide relief to Nevadan families in times of crisis. Dream Big Nevada is proud to be a part of these efforts as we have seen the needs of the community first hand.
Dream Big Nevada has been working to help undocumented families have access to COVID-19 resources since the beginning of this pandemic. Undocumented families are not able to receive stimulus checks or unemployment benefits. Many of the services available are not open to undocumented Nevadans, this has left them vulnerable to not only evictions but in some cases, deportation.
One of the 66 families we have been able to help with $300 COVID relief funds was Don Martin, an older gentleman with cancer. He hasn't received any medical or financial assistance because of his immigration status. He recently had his leg amputated and was trying to figure out how he was going to be able to pay his energy bill. Your donations will help more families like Don Martin’s.
Our goal is to fundraise $60,000 so that together, we can help 200 Nevada families on our waiting list have a chance at survival during these difficult times.
