Trump’s new pick for Surgeon General, Casey Means, is running out of credibility in Washington because the truth has finally caught up with her. She doesn’t have an active medical license. She never completed her residency. She walked away from real medicine and built a career selling supplements and pseudoscience online.
Now she’s up for one of the most important medical leadership roles in the country. The Surgeon General is supposed to be the nation’s doctor, a voice people can trust in times of crisis. Instead, Trump has chosen a wellness influencer whose main experience is promoting unproven “metabolic health” products that pay her to market them.
More than thirty health and consumer organizations have already urged the Senate to reject her nomination. Former Surgeons General and legal experts are warning that she doesn’t meet the most basic standards for the job. Even some in Trump’s own orbit know this is a mistake.
If she’s confirmed, she will oversee thousands of public health professionals while not being qualified to practice medicine herself. Senators are already hearing from both sides that this nomination cannot stand, and now they need to hear it from us.
