Fund the fight to demand SNAP funding for November now!

No child should go hungry because of politics. No older adult, person with disabilities, or family living in poverty should be forced to skip meals due to the cruel priorities of Trump’s GOP. Yet, as grocery costs continue to skyrocket, Trump is withholding November SNAP (food assistance) benefits from more than 40 million Americans: 16 million children, 8 million seniors, and 4 million people with disabilities.

The injustice is staggering. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has $5 billion in emergency contingency funds -- money it is legally required to use to feed people in times of crisis -- and yet the Trump administration is refusing to release it. The funds exist precisely for moments like this, when millions of Americans face uncertainty and hunger. Instead, the administration is choosing to let families suffer.

Trump’s excuses don’t hold up. His first administration managed to fund SNAP through the 2018–2019 shutdown. This time, he’s simply refusing to follow the law -- not out of necessity, but by his choice. More than two dozen state Attorneys General have already filed suit to compel the USDA to act, but hungry families can’t afford to wait for the courts.

Local governments and food charities lack the resources to pick up the slack, while grocery stores, farmers, and local economies also lose out. Governors across the country must stand up now for their most vulnerable residents, because no American should go hungry when the government has both the means and the legal duty to feed them.
