Sara Gideon, the Democratic speaker of the Maine House, is running against Maine GOP Senator Susan Collins in 2020. Please donate now to help Sara Gideon beat Susan Collins, and help Democrats take back the US Senate.

Susan Collins has a history of lacking spine when it matters most. Collins cast the swing vote IN FAVOR of Brett Kavanaugh being confirmed to the Supreme Court, while attacking Dr. Christine Blasey-Ford.

Susan Collins doesn't care that Brett Kavanaugh is the most partisan Supreme Court justice in American history, and tainted by multiple accusations of sexual assault.

Susan Collins doesn't care that Brett Kavanaugh perjured himself repeatedly before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

And Susan Collins doesn't care that Brett Kavanaugh will likely be the deciding vote to overturn Roe v Wade, which not only will make abortion illegal again in many states, but which is also the basis of many LGBT rights decisions.

Time and again, When the Going Gets Tough, Susan Collins Caves.

All of this is sadly too familiar. Susan Collins helped Mitch McConnell repeal the Affordable Care Act's individual mandate, spiking premiums for millions of Americans, because McConnell promised her he'd immediately pass legislation to help stabilize the ACA marketplace - AFTER the vote. It's been over a year now -- the vote never happened, and Susan Collins is nowhere to be found. Collins got played again, and we're the ones who suffer as a result.

Sara Gideon on the Issues

Sara Gideon has promised to hold Susan Collins responsible for supporting Brett Kavanaugh and Trump's disastrous trillion dollar tax cut for the rich. And Gideon is also taking Collins to task for taking political donations from drug companies and the insurance industry, right before Collins voted to repeal the individual mandate, and gut Obamacare.

More on Sara Gideon's positions from NY Magazine:

"On her campaign’s website, Gideon sketches out a record distinguished by her commitment to an array of liberal policies, including abortion rights and expanded health-care access, and to reining in prescription-drug costs. She frames the choice between herself and Collins as one between someone who puts Mainers first and someone who prioritizes special interests over her constituents. She emphasizes this point in her campaign video by noting that Trump personally thanked Collins for voting yes on tax breaks for the rich and that Collins helped to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

"Gideon’s legislative record also helps support her claim. She championed Medicaid expansion — a policy that Maine voters later approved by referendum and that former governor Paul LePage obstructed — and helped to override LePage’s veto of a bill that made Narcan available over the counter to Mainers under the age of 21. (Maine experiences high rates of substance-use disorders, which LePage, an admirer of President Trump, once blamed on 'guys by the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty … from Connecticut and New York.') After Janet Mills, a Democrat, defeated Shawn Moody, a Republican, to replace LePage in the governor’s mansion, Gideon has worked more amicably with the executive branch and passed legislation that expanded abortion rights in the state."

It's Time to Defeat Susan Collins

Enough is enough. Democrats needs to start playing hardball, or we will continue to get run over by Mitch McConnell, Donald Trump, and their enabling collaborators like Susan Collins.
