Abortion Care Tennessee and Mountain Access Brigade are two independent abortion funds that fund abortion for any Tennesseans traveling out of state for care. They are merging to work more closely together and increase their offerings to abortion seekers. ACT provides block grants to several abortion providers that Tennesseans travel to, and MAB operates a support line where callers can get financial assistance at 50+ clinics across the mid-South, Midwest and Northeast. Additionally, both fulfill direct requests from clinics providing third trimester care to Tennessee residents.
Your donations will be split 50/50 between the two organizations and go directly to pay for Tennesseans abortion procedures.
Abortion is banned in Tennessee with no exceptions beyond life threatening emergencies. Even in the case of dangerous pregnancies, they cannot be terminated until a pregnant person is actively experiencing significant life threatening symptoms. To end a pregnancy, even one that is not viable or could harm a pregnant person, Tennesseans must travel out of state to get care. The further in pregnancy they are, the further they must travel and the more expensive that care becomes. Abortion funds offset these costs that are often not covered by insurance and never covered by Tenncare.
