
April Cook is a proven leader, passionate advocate, and lifelong servant to her community. For more than two decades, April has dedicated her career to expanding access to healthcare for North Carolinians who need it most. As Co-Founder and longtime Executive Director of the Lake Norman Community Health Clinic—now Cook Community Clinic—she helped thousands of uninsured residents receive quality care close to home.
In 2022, April became Chief Executive Officer of the North Carolina Association of Free and Charitable Clinics, leading a statewide network of 62 clinics that provide essential healthcare to uninsured and underinsured families. Her leadership has strengthened safety-net services, integrated behavioral health into primary care, and advanced innovative programs to ensure every North Carolinian has the opportunity to live a healthy life.
