Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Melat immigrated to the United States with her family after her father was selected through the Diversity Visa Lottery. Settling in Denver, she watched her parents work tirelessly to build a new life and experienced firsthand the power of community support.
Inspired by those values, Melat earned her law degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2022 and began her career as an attorney in New York City. When she publicly defended student protesters speaking out for Palestine, she was asked to remove her article or resign. She refused and was fired.
Rather than back down, Melat turned that experience into a commitment to public service. Today, she is running as a Democratic Socialist to fight for working people in Denver, make the city more affordable, and challenge corruption in government.

Please chip in today to support Melat Kiros. Together in Congress, they will fight for the bold change our communities deserve.
