Imagine being the first person in your family to apply to college. This is an exciting yet challenging experience for many students in the Hudson Valley. For some, however, it also means confronting our status as undocumented students. Now, imagine attending a free summer program that equips you with the skills to navigate the college application process and teaches you about the rich history of student movements. Imagine the sense of empowerment it would give you to hone your capabilities and learn how to be part of campaigns for social justice.
Adelante Student Voices 2024
will provide rising sophomore, junior, and senior high school students with resources to apply to college successfully. The program will also give these students a safe space to build a support network and grow their political awareness. Ultimately, the goal of Adelante is to empower young adults to become self-advocates who change educational and legal systems for their entire community.
Adelante is fundraising to host our seventh summer program on a college campus without incurring a financial burden upon participants. We are accepting 20 students to join us for 10 days and nights. We need your help. Will you sponsor materials for $250, a counselor for $800, a day in the dorms for $1,100—to name just a few of the costs? We spend approximately $1,000 on each participant throughout the summer program.
In appreciation for your support, you will receive Your organization’s name on Adelante’s webpage, Recognition at Adelante’s student graduation and social media, and Invitations to a future summer program celebratory dinner.
