Americans for Financial Reform

Fund the Fight to protect pensions and push for a fossil-free future today!

New York City just made history by committing to stop new public pension investments in private equity-backed fossil fuel companies. This groundbreaking move is a huge win for the climate and retirement savers, and it’s thanks to the tireless efforts of Americans for Financial Reform (AFR), the Private Equity Climate Risks Consortium, grassroots leaders, and our allies like Strong for All, Planet Over Profit, Climate Organizing Hub, Wet’suwet’en Nation land defenders, and South Texas Environmental Justice Network who led impactful actions on the NYC Comptroller’s office, private equity firm KKR, and MoMA.

But the fight is far from over. This commitment still needs to be adopted by the pension funds’ trustees and the fossil fuel industry and private equity giants will push back hard. They have deep pockets, armies of lobbyists, and they won’t stop until they reverse this progress. We need your help to keep the pressure on and ensure that other cities follow NYC’s lead.

Your donation will help us continue the critical research, advocacy, and coalition-building that made this victory possible. Together, we can push for more bold actions like this across the country and safeguard workers’ retirement savings from risky, climate-damaging investments.
