The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) announced a long-awaited crackdown on credit card late fees that will cut these fees from as high as $41 down to $8, and in the process save American consumers $10 billion every year.
AFR has been fighting for this step for years. In 2023, we submitted more than 56,000 letters of support from you (thank you!) urging the CFPB to create this new protection. And this year, we brought together a coalition of more than a dozen organizations to specifically push for the lowest fees possible.
But -- this important fight in the struggle on junk fees is far from over. Wall Street and its allies are already fighting the plan in Congress and the courts. We need your financial support to push this rule over the finish line and into law.
