Russell Vought and the Trump administration are attempting to shut down the CFPB by cutting off its funding, firing its staff, and freezing its enforcement. If they succeed, the only federal agency dedicated to protecting consumers from financial abuse will collapse.
AFR is mobilizing legal experts, consumer advocates, and congressional partners to stop this attack. We are coordinating rapid response, briefing lawmakers, exposing the administration’s unlawful actions, and mobilizing public pressure to protect the CFPB before its reserves run out.
This work takes resources. The administration is using procedural maneuvers and fringe legal theories to dismantle the CFPB from within. We need sustained support to counter these attacks and defend the agency that has returned more than $21 billion to consumers and stopped countless abusive financial practices.
