Wall Street billionaires, Trump operatives, and their allies in Congress are trying to destroy the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the agency that protects everyday people from financial scams, junk fees, and discriminatory lending.
Right now, the House majority is moving to gut the CFPB’s independent funding through reconciliation. If they succeed, the agency will be forced to beg Congress for money and Wall Street will be there, lobbying to slash its budget every step of the way.
This is an attack on working people. The CFPB is one of the most effective agencies in government and that’s exactly why the financial industry wants it gone.
