Americans for Financial Reform

Fund the fight to expose crypto scams and stand up to billionaire influence in Congress now

The crypto industry is spending massive amounts of money to weaken regulation, rewrite the rules in their favor, and open the door to more scams that put families, communities, and our entire financial system at risk. But Americans for Financial Reform is fighting back.

Crypto billionaires poured over $245 million into political campaigns last cycle. Their goal is to pressure Congress to pass deregulatory bills with carveouts and exemptions that let crypto companies operate without oversight while ordinary people are left holding the bag. These loopholes would allow the same reckless behavior that led to FTX, Celsius, and years of crypto fraud that wiped out billions in savings.

AFR is leading the counterattack. We are exposing the industry’s influence campaign, briefing lawmakers on the real risks, organizing national coalitions, sounding the alarm in the media, and mobilizing hundreds of thousands of grassroots supporters. And we are producing powerful public-education tools, like the latest four-minute explainer video featuring AFR’s crypto expert, Mark Hays. This content brings new people into the movement and drives pressure on Congress to reject industry-written legislation.

The crypto lobby is betting that they can drown out the truth with billionaire spending. We need to prove them wrong. Your support fuels the research, advocacy, communications, and organizing we need to defeat efforts to deregulate crypto and push back against the political power of the industry.
