CEO pay in the U.S. is out of control.
Between corporate greed and anti-union policies, American workers have gotten the shaft for a long time. Not so CEOs. CEOs are now being paid 399 times the pay of the median worker -- the highest disparity in 50 years.
Our economy -- and our democracy -- cannot continue like this.
U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and Representatives Barbara Lee and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have introduced the Curtailing Executive Overcompensation (CEO) Act, which would apply an excise tax on public and private companies that have more than a 50-to-1 CEO-to-median-worker pay disparity.
