While many survivors remain displaced and have had their claims delayed or denied, CA State Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara put survivors’ concerns on the backburner when he went ahead and approved State Farm’s double digit rate increase. The rate increase went into effect on June 1, 2025.
Now, State Farm is demanding even more.
State Farm wants to raise rates for its CA homeowner policyholders by a total of 30 percent and increase condominium owners and renters rates up to 36 percent and 52 percent respectively, which amounts to a $5.2 billion policyholder bailout for State Farm over the next four years. State Farm’s requested rate hikes are excessive and designed to make policyholders pad the company’s profits.
