Dear Friends,
Please join us and other African American Leaders from across the country to stand up today to support the re-election of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. Click here.
Governor Patrick was elected in 2006, with 56% of the vote. He is the first African American Governor of Massachusetts, the third black Governor in United States history and the only African American Governor up for re-election this fall. If that is not compelling enough, this November, Governor Deval Patrick will be the first African American Governor to win re-election in United State history. Governor Patrick is not just blazing the trail for Massachusetts, but the national African American community. Please support his campaign now so the African American leaders who walk behind him to State Houses across the country will not longer be making history but shaping the future of our states.
Governor Patrick has been an effective chief executive for Massachusetts. Under Governor Patrick’s leadership, Massachusetts has navigated the challenging economic environment and is recovering twice as fast as the national economy. Massachusetts consistently leads the United State in its public schools and in innovation; Governor Patrick continued this trend by making unprecedented investments in education and in the biotech jobs of our future. A key campaign promise, Governor Patrick succeeded in passing the overhaul of the state’s criminal background check system or CORI reform. This been an elusive goal of African American community and labor organizations for nearly a decade. CORI reform will improve access to jobs, housing and other vital services for those with arrest records who have paid their debt to society. As leaders in the African American community; we urge you to support his critical campaign now with a contribution.
Please see the following accomplishments of the Patrick/Murray Administration for the African American Community. We hope that you will consider joining us in supporting Governor Patrick’s campaign with an online contribution today. Thank you for your friendship and support, Clarence Avant and Charles Ogletree
