Living through this last year in the Twin Cities has been revolutionary.
Many Minneapolitans lost their jobs (ME) or struggled to navigate a tenuous and deadly virus, while others were able to make the important pivot to working from home to minimize the impact of a global pandemic. Our community suffered the tragic murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police Department officers, and residents were activated to hit the streets demanding justice.
Aisha is one of those people, has been one of those people, will always be one of those people. She leads training on marshaling direct actions. She is on the picket line in support. She fights against evictions for renters.
You may have seen Aisha in Powderhorn this summer, working in partnership with our unhoused neighbors.
The root issues to many of the symptoms we've been soothing for decades are structural. We need a city council that will name this specifically and works toward creative, community-led solutions.
That's why I'm supporting Aisha for my area, Ward 10.
I've donated $600 - my entire stimulus - despite being unemployed because I believe so strongly in Aisha's leadership.
Please help me turn my $600 into much more by throwing down any amount you can.
This money will be put in a pool for a bigger match program, continuing to grow the reach of this incredibly important campaign.
We need to be nurturing the elected officials we know share our values rather than dealing with the ones we happen to have. This is one way to do that.
