Water is one of our most essential resources. But across the globe, corporations are vying to gain control of and commodify our water. People from Pittsburgh, PA to Flint, MI and all the way to Lagos, Nigeria, have seen firsthand what happens when water is commodified.
For more than three years, Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth, Nigeria (ERA) has led a bold campaign to stop local officials from turning over the water system to private hands. Now, this January, ERA and Corporate Accountability are hosting an international water summit in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. The summit will bring together public officials, experts, organizers, and journalists from Nigeria and around the world.
