Donate to Elect Alexandria Wojcik, New Paltz Mayor!

Hi everyone – I am so excited to REintroduce myself as Village of New Paltz Mayor Alexandria Wojcik!! My pronouns are she/they, and I am the first-ever openly queer mayor of our fabulous little village!!!!! And this November, with all of your help, I will be the first-ever woman elected to the position!! 

New Paltz has been my chosen home since I moved here in 2003 when I began college at SUNY New Paltz, where I earned both my BA and my MA in English Composition and Rhetoric. 

I was first elected to the Village board in 2019, and re-elected in 2023. This January I stepped up to fill the Mayoral vacancy, as I was the Deputy Mayor since 2021; in February, I was formally appointed Mayor.

My priorities as Mayor are:

1. Radically inclusive constituent services, meeting people where they are at, democratizing systems so that local government works for ALL people.
2. Public works for the people, including breaking ground on the skate garden in hasbrouck park and gardening with the Girl Scouts.
3. Continuance of GOOD government – with two decades of experience working in local and state government in a variety of roles from public interest lobbyist, to new york state senate external relations associate, to village deputy clerk, to activist and advocate, and of course elected trustee and mayor – I’m proud to have already picked up exactly where my predecessors left off and commit to leaving Village Hall (and our greater community) better than I found it.

My last two campaigns to serve this Village were totally d.i.y. zero-dollar grassroots efforts — I raised and spent no money, because I believe in a world where money’s out of politics. This time around, I aim to raise and spend $10k, but remain steadfastly unbought and unbossed. This campaign is for all of us. We are about to make history, together — again. 

Funds raised will be used to pay artists, host events, print materials, send some snail mail, and ensure every Village resident is fully tuned into the fact that on November 3, we have an opportunity to vote to elect our Village’s first-ever woman elected to the office of the mayor. 

With a wide network of grassroots donors, my team and I can win this election, tackle even more of the Village’s biggest challenges, and continue the hard work we’ve been putting in over these last 6 months, and the previous 6 years.
