I'm running for State Representative because I've had enough.
Our federal government has turned on our friends and allies abroad, shaking them down and treating them with disrespect while cozying up to dictators. We started a war in the middle east that we now can't get out of, kidnapped the head of a sovereign south American state, threatened other nearby states, militarily attacked boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific without due process and even proposed taking Greenland by force. We as a nation are acting like the very thugs that we have stood against throughout our history.
Domestically, the current administration has taken away from women the right to choose what happens to their own bodies. In raids that echo mid 20th century Europe, gangs of masked federal officers in unmarked vehicles have rounded up and imprisoned large groups of immigrants guilty of no greater crime than being undocumented. We are constantly bombarded by debunked claims that our voting system is rife with fraud and now the President won't sign a bipartisan housing bill until he is granted the authority to collect individual voter data-with personal information- from every state in the nation. Attacks on our free press, persecution of the Presidents political rivals through the DOJ, threats against private firms and institutions of higher learning: the list goes on and on.
This is not the America that I grew up in and love for its values and integrity.
Here in New Hampshire, we have a state legislature that has cheered on much of the federal agenda. The Republicans in our statehouse have embraced the "free state project" with the result that we have seen cuts in health benefits to our most vulnerable citizens. Our public schools are now at risk of insolvency as open enrollment and vouchers for private education reduce the flow of critically needed funds to public school districts. Our property taxes have risen significantly as our towns struggle to make up the deficits. In Belknap County, our beloved Gunstock ski area was attacked by its own oversight commission in 2022 under the influence of free staters. Only a mass resignation by the ski areas management and involvement by the Governor saved it from destruction.
Soaring property taxes, cuts to Medicaid, financially failing public schools and interference in otherwise profitable county owned corporations. The citizens of New Hampshire deserve better, more responsible representation.
I ask for your support as State Representative for Gilford, Gilmanton and ward 2 in Laconia this November, as we try to return our Statehouse to a more center-driven and rational governing body.
You deserve it, your children deserve it and your wallet deserves it.
