Allyson Chan for School Board

I’m excited to be running for the San Mateo-Foster City School District, representing Area 1!

I grew up attending our local public schools, and those experiences shaped who I am today. As a high school student, I served on the San Mateo County Board of Education, where I advocated for legislation to strengthen student voice in education.

Since then, I’ve built my experience locally as a County Legislative Aide and on the Executive Board for the San Mateo Democratic Party. As Programming Director for the National Student Board Member Association, I have learned best practices about school boards across the country, working directly with students who sit on the dais.

Through these roles, I bring lived experience as a former student, deep local knowledge of our community, and a national perspective on education policy.

Now, I’m excited for the opportunity to give back to the district that shaped my educational journey and to bring new ideas to our school board.
