Donate to Amanda Farias Running for City Council District 18

Amanda Farias is a lifelong Bronxite with a passion for public service. Born and raised in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx, Amanda is a second generation Puerto Rican-Dominican Afro-Latina who understands firsthand the hardships of living in one of the most underserved areas of the United States. Born the oldest of three children in a single parent household, Amanda learned at an early age the value of hard work as she helped to support her family.

Amanda first entered public life by fighting voter suppression and mobilizing Black and Latino communities for President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign. Since then, Amanda has worked diligently in the New York City Council to strengthen our public schools through overseeing of SMART technology upgrades for students and classrooms, develop and expand job-training programs for the unemployed and underemployed, and protecting our seniors by securing additional funding to fight food insecurity.

Running as the youngest person and only woman in a five way race, she came in as the runner-up in her Democratic Primary for City Council District 18. Though her bid unsuccessful as a first-time candidate, she was committed to fighting for progressive leadership and ran for State Committeewoman of the 87th Assembly District in the Summer 2018. Winning by 86 votes, Amanda defeated a 24 year incumbent and became the State Committeewoman of the 87th Assembly District.

She believes in NY being truly progressive, and knows the fight must continue! Emerging as an incredible challenger to Ruben Diaz Sr., a staunch opponent of women and LGBTQ communities, she has committed to running again for New York City Council.

Make a donation to support Amanda Farias' campaign to win her seat in 2021 and get Ruben Diaz Sr. out of public office!
