With more than 30 years of experience dedicated to public safety and justice, Amara has served the community from multiple perspectives as a Detroit Police Officer, an Assistant District Attorney, and now as an Assistant Public Defender in Forsyth County. Throughout her career, she has worked to uphold the law while ensuring fairness and accountability for everyone. Since 2009, the District Attorney’s Office has lacked the consistent, community-centered leadership that Forsyth County deserves. Amara Hunter is running for District Attorney to bring what is needed most: experience, steady leadership, transparency, accountability and a strong commitment to our community. She is dedicated to building a justice system that is fair, accountable, and works for everyone in Forsyth County.
