While Amazon is expanding its operations all over the country―spending millions of dollars on delivery drones, worker surveillance tech, and broadcast rights to the Emmys―there’s one place where they’re suddenly closing their doors: Maple Grove, MN, right outside the Twin Cities.
Amazon spends $30-50 million to open a sorting facility, and this one opened its doors less than 5 years ago. So hundreds of workers are now facing job loss while they pack the millions of dollars in orders from Twin Cities communities during last week’s Prime Big Deal Days.

Wednesday was one of Amazon’s biggest shopping days of the year, but for workers in Maple Grove, MN, it was not the typical Prime Day.
That’s because instead of sorting boxes at a feverish pace, workers rallied outside their own MSP7 warehouse to demand fair treatment as Amazon closes the facility and leaves them facing job loss and an uncertain future.
The Awood Center is a Twin Cities workers’ center supporting MSP7 Amazon workers in their fight for fair treatment during this closure and connecting impacted workers with local services.
We’re working hand in hand with Awood to make sure impacted Amazon workers can make rent, pay bills, and afford groceries until they secure a transfer or find new employment.
Can you donate to The Labor Force’s hardship fund to support these fired Amazon workers? We’re working with our allies on the ground in Minnesota to make sure no one loses their home because of Amazon’s capricious closure.
In Solidarity,
The Labor Force
