ABOUT ARENA:

Founded in the wake of the 2016 election, Arena has trained more than 5,900 campaign staff and volunteers; supported 62 federal and state candidates to victory; and led efforts to take back the U.S. House of Representatives, the New York State Senate, and the Virginia House of Delegates. Arena's mission is to convene, train, and support the next generation of candidates and campaign staff.

Arena has a track record of effective programming in Texas, including our 2019 Arena Academy in Houston, where we trained 230 aspiring campaign staffers and gave a platform to rising political stars like Lina Hidalgo and Gina Ortiz Jones.

In 2022, Arena is planning to make even more significant investments in Texas, including training 500 activists, candidates, and aspiring campaign staffers at the Arena Summit Texas, and launching the Arena Texas Staff Fellowship, a program through which they will place 20 Arena-trained staffers on key Texas State Legislature races while fully funding their salaries and health care. Arena is engaging with key local partners on this work, including organizations like the Texas Democratic Party, Annie’s List, Texas Future Project, and more.

ABOUT CECILE RICHARDS:

Cecile Richards is a national leader for women’s rights and social and economic justice, and a co-founder of Supermajority — an organization fighting for gender equity. She is the author of New York Times bestseller Make Trouble. As President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund for 12 years, Richards worked to increase affordable access to reproductive health care and to build a healthier and safer world for women and young people. After starting her career as a labor organizer, working with women earning the minimum wage, she went on to start her own grassroots organizations, and later served as Deputy Chief of Staff to House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. In 2011 and 2012, she was named one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World. Richards is a frequent speaker and commentator on politics and progressive issues. She and her husband, Kirk Adams, have three children and live in New York City.
