Arielle Fleisher is running for school board because every child in Oakland — no matter their neighborhood, no matter their circumstances — deserves a high-quality education. Right now, that promise is out of reach.
OUSD is on the brink of financial collapse, less than a year after finally regaining local control. Counselors, social workers, and literacy specialists have been cut. Principals are speaking out against the dysfunction. Only one in three Oakland students reads at grade level. Just over one in four is proficient in math. For Black and Latino students, the numbers are even more alarming.
The root problem is leadership. And the November election is our chance to change it.
Arielle is committed to student-outcome focused governance — where every decision starts with what will help more Oakland students read on grade level, succeed in math, and experience joy and belonging at school. She'll fix the budget for real, and set a clear vision for what Oakland schools can become.
Arielle is an OUSD mom, a proud product of public schools, and a neighbor who has spent years building community. She founded a 300+ member moms group, serves on the PTA, co-leads her local neighborhood council, and is active in the Democratic Party at the local and state levels. With a background in public policy and local government, she knows how government works — and how to push it to work better.
Help us elect Arielle Fleisher to represent District 2 on the Oakland School Board this November!
