Aron's IfNotNow Fundraising Page

Goal thermometer

For the last few months, I've been organizing with IfNotNow, a diverse Jewish movement dedicated to ending American Jewish support for the occupation. After developing a chronic pain condition that made it impossible for me to fulfill an 11-year dream of serving in the IDF, I was forced to wrestle more seriously with the realities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I've been thinking about with the ways in which the institutions I grew up in and have supported are contributing to the perpetuation of the occupation: by funding settlements, promoting narratives that obscure the nightmare of military rule for Palestinians, and enabling Israel's far-right government.

In the past few weeks, I've also seen how those institutions' support for a narrow range of Israeli policies have caused them to be silent on Trump's victory and his appointment of Stephen Bannon, an enabler of anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, racism, and other bigotries. IfNotNow has been the single Jewish organization doing the most to protest both Trump and our community's silence. We know our alliances with other targeted groups is both the right choice for our security and to live out the values inherent in our tradition.

Over the next few months, we will continue to build the #JewishResistance by mobilizing locally and across the nation. We want to train hundreds more people as members of IfNotNow, bring thousands more into the streets, and make the connection in our community between the moral bankruptcy of our institutions and the pro-Israel-at-any-cost politics that reign in the American Jewish establishment.

We can't do this work without you. I'm trying to raise $100 to help fund our efforts over the next year -- will you help us stand up for freedom and dignity for all?
