Who is Art
Art is originally from the southwest side of Chicago, and moved to Loves Park in 2003 because I wanted to experience both city and country life, and it's been rewarding ever since. I have been married for 42 years. We had two children, one sadly passed away.
I graduated from Gage Park high School in 1969. Then went to Electronics Technical Institute in Chicago to receive a Diploma in Television, Radio, and Color Television Technology. I believe a candidate should possess common sense, a strong willingness to help, to be able to listen well and react positively and act accordingly to people's needs, wants, struggles, and concerns.
Career: I started as professional and transitioned into a career as an account executive for a major Milwaukee based transport company. Also, as a former owner of a trucking firm I know the struggles of small businesses.
Political activity: I am the Rockford area coordinator for a statewide movement to eliminate the Illinois sales tax on food, medicine like aspirin, and medical appliances like wheelchairs, and hearing aids. Life's essentials should never have been taxed in the first place.
Goals, if honored with being elected as alderman ...
Taxes: Find a way to reduce the Loves Park utility tax without raising or creating other taxes or fees to replace the revenue. The Loves Park utility tax is the highest tax levy on your utility bill, even higher than the state of Illinois. With the high cost of living this tax is a burden to everyone including businesses.
Our streets: Residential Winter time street plowing, and salting, and are not always done properly or in a timely manner. Sometimes leaving patches of ice that have the potential for causing accidents. I will work to remedy this.
North 2nd Street: Seems most of our taxpayer money used for infrastructure and other improvements have been spent on developing the east side of Loves Park than anywhere else around the city. I will look for a new way to revitalize North Second Street.
Quarterly ward meetings: I would hold quarterly meetings around the ward to hear the concerns and ideas of our community.
