As you likely have seen on the news, at least two EF3 tornadoes ripped through Central and Eastern Arkansas on Friday, March 31, damaging and destroying thousands of homes and businesses in rural communities like Wynne and Earle, and Little Rock and suburb communities of Jacksonville, Sherwood, and North Little Rock.
The Rural Caucus of Arkansas' Disaster Recovery Team has been on the ground helping since the tornado emergency ended.
Arkansas' rural communities remains our focus, since they haven't gotten as much attention — nor as much immediate assistance — as Little Rock has.
ON THE GROUND NEEDS:
Oil, Gasoline, Chainsaws, Food, Personal Supplies, & Tarps! We also have been lent some heavy equipment for moving the large trees off roads, driveways, and homes, and we need volunteers who can operate the equipment — and more equipment is welcomed, too. MUCH help is still needed especially on the outskirts of Central Arkansas and in the rural areas of Wynne and Earle.
These rural communities don't have official direct links for others to donate, yet funds are direly needed, for gasoline to run generators and clean-up equipment, for meals for clean-up volunteers and tornado victims, to buy tarps and hardware to help Arkansans make their homes livable again, and so forth.
We are hoping to raise at least $2,500 to help with these efforts.
Rural Caucus Chairman Steve Grappe will distribute the funds as needed. Steve and our other Disaster Recovery Team leaders are working closely with the Red Cross and local authorities in Pulaski County, Lonoke County, Wynne/Cross County, and Earle.
CAN YOU DONATE $25 or more for supplies?
